No one knows for sure when the first closure was held in Pamplona, but historians say that already existed in the XVI century. Its origin is the input of livestock in the city to celebrate the bullfights. At first there were runners, but eventually grew into a public event in which people became involved, to become the world famous and popular event today.

Over the years its route has changed, both for the needs of the city, such as the location of the different arenas Pamplona has had throughout history. And it has changed as far as the schedule is concerned, being at different times at 5 in the morning, at 6, at 7, and until 8 today.
